September 18, 2012 – The Portable Health Clinic (PHC) Project is now at the Chhaygaon Union of Shariatpur District with its salient Healthcare Services for the unreached community. The program will be held through 19 – 24 September, 2012 and it aims to provide basic health checkup services to 1,000 people during these 6 days. After the successful completion of the pilot phase of the project held at Ekhlaspur (Chandpur), Epyllion Group (Dhaka) and Suvastu Development Limited (Dhaka), the program is going to commence its final phase with the program. Taking on the “One Community One Clinic” concept at heart the project endeavors to reach healthcare services to the doors of the villagers and prevail over the infrastructural limitations that make healthcare facilities nearly inaccessible to the majority of the rural communities. This Affordable, Usable and Sustainable Preventive Healthcare System for Unreached People will also help people to cut back on medical bills by figuring out the disease patterns in a particular community and giving the way to take preventative measures before the disease turns out.

The pilot phases have already generated a health database of about 800 people which has been stored to a centralized health database and are to go through research and analysis to bring out health problem patterns among people from varied professions, living conditions and financial status.

The project is being conducted by Global Communication Center (GCC) of Grameen Communications and Kyushu University, Japan in collaboration with Medical Information Center, Kyushu University; Kyushu Institute of Technology (Research Partners); Grameen Kalyan, Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing (Health Service Support Partner); Epyllion Group and Suvastu Development Limited (Industry Service Support).
